Carl Preiksaitis, MD MEd, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. He directs the Human Experience and Advancement Lab, where his research examines how artificial intelligence and digital technology reshape clinical work and training. He also directs the Stanford Integrated Emergency Research Repository and Archive, developing research infrastructure for collaborative investigation in emergency medicine.

His work spans human–AI interaction in clinical environments, documentation and cognitive burden, educational informatics, and the development of physician expertise. He serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Graduate Medical Education, directs Stanford Emergency Medicine’s Medical Education Residency Track, and leads the department’s graduate medical education curriculum.

Dr. Preiksaitis earned his MD from NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He completed emergency medicine residency and a medical education fellowship at Stanford and earned a Master of Education in Medical Education from the University of Cincinnati.
